New Features Coming

I have been licensing the “ProCoach” program from Precision Nutrition for a few years now. I got it when I started my Level 2 training, because I wanted to work with some test clients using the Precision Nutrition tools in real time during my training. After my certification, I quietly hung my shingle to sell my services. I currently have a few clients working with me using the program. They mostly stumbled across one of my websites, and took the initiative to ask me some more questions and ultimately picked me. The ProCoach curriculum is a 50 week program with a daily workout, habit, and nutrition lesson. And 50 weeks is a lot to commit to. Although the incremental changes, and a habit based approach work really well, it’s a lot to sign up for on day 1.

And as currently designed, it starts REALLY REALLY slowly. In my experience, many people disappear in the first 2 weeks. I offer the first month free, since the slow slog is an acquired taste, generally for people who have tried everything else, and are finally ready to try something different, and sustainable. But they still really wish they had some FAST WINS at the start to keep them motivated for the slog. It’s just not really set up that way.

This week, Precision Nutrition put out a teaser that “Christmas was coming” to ProCoach. I could not be more excited.

  • Christmas present #1! You will be able to re-order the habits in whatever way you want, further personalizing the client experience.
  • Christmas present #2! You will be able to turn specific habits on and off, allowing you to offer coaching packages of ANY length. 12-week challenge, 60-day value add, or 6-month coaching package? We got ya covered.
  • Christmas present #3! A client mobile app.

People have been asking for a mobile app for 3 + years. People have also been asking for shorter formats (in the tool) for more experienced clients who have better foundations for their nutrition skills. We’ve already had the option to change where in the workout cycles people are but then it didn’t sync well with the nutrition lessons/habits.

I am beyond excited about this. I love Renaissance Periodization (RP), and their framework is 12 weeks hard work toward goal (cut/mass), and 8-12 weeks of maintenance, repeat as needed until final goal reached. ProCoach was designed as a slow and steady program for a 50 weeks cycle. Personally, I find that I do mentally better with phases like RP. These days, I’ve mostly been in maintenance until I start to feel too chubby, then I tighten things up a bit for 12 weeks or so, then back to maintenance.

I also enjoyed Aadam’s (link to random fun article) 6 week Crash Diet Program. He’s not offering it as the moment, but I signed up to see how he structured it. The nutrition and workouts were solid. My mom died around the time I was signed up, so I was enjoying as much comfort food and drink as I could, but I do plan to execute the program at some point in a more fully committed fashion. It’s short. And it will work without me losing muscle mass!

Anyhow, I can’t wait to try to build something short and useful using the Precision Nutrition tools after the new year. Fun!
