Bio

Science x Business – PhD, MBA, PMP, passionate about (bio)tech, entrepreneurship, fitness, nutrition, & creating opportunities.

I am a scientist by training and ran a research laboratory focused on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS; Lou Gehrig’s disease) for more than a decade. While studying for my MBA, I fell in love with the business of science and promoting the creation of businesses from new innovations. I have been fortunate to have had diverse professional experiences including: director of a basic biomedical research institute (Eleanor Roosevelt Institute); executive director of an academic entrepreneurship center; and, executive director of a research and development authority (Leon County Research and Development Authority) overseeing a research park (Innovation Park Campus).

Currently, I serve as the COO for the Colorado Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA). SIPA’s overarching goal is to use technology to make it easier for members of the public to access state and local government information and services. SIPA provides a variety of solutions to state and local governments in Colorado such as website development and hosting, PCI compliant payment processing, custom application development, cyber security assessments, and SaaS solutions such as Google, Salesforce, and DocuSign. SIPA serves more than 750 government entities and is continuously increasing the diversity of services offered as well as the number of Colorado governments supported.
