About Catherine
I'm a scientist (PhD in
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) by training and conducted research on
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis from 1995 to 2010. I earned my MBA (2004-2006) at
the University of Colorado
Denver. It is not exaggeration to say that the experience changed my life.
I was one of the cofounders of Beacon Biotechnology which is
developing novel diagnostic microarray devices.
I have run both a basic biomedical research institute (Eleanor Roosevelt Institute) and an entrepreneurship center (Bard Center for Entrepreneurship). Currently I am serving as the Executive Director of the Leon County Research and Development Authority which oversees the 208 acre Innovation Park Campus in Tallahassee, Florida. I am passionate about biotechnology, innovation, entrepreneurship, economic development, higher education and helping create opportunities for others.
